MAX Takes the Stage in Spring Concert

Joanna Kampessis & Michaela Bowry
Xaverian’s MAX Program took the stage on May 3rd for its 30th annual Spring Concert, showcasing 13 of its 28 performing groups. The night showed off students’ hard work and talents both in their instruments and voices.

Leading up to the concert, bands practiced three to four times a week, in addition to students’ independent practice to really make sure they had a strong grasp on the material so that they were confident when going on stage.

Angelina Kampessis ‘26 stated, “I think this year's MAX Spring Concert blew us all away in terms of the individuality. With the amount of effort and care these students and teachers put into making this show the best it can be, along with the talents and gifts of the students, I know that this year’s show was a huge success and will give the school even more of the recognition it deserves.”

According to Mr. Loposky, Director of Music, this year's concert was more challenging for the students than last year. “I had given them more difficult music and unique material. The students had done a fantastic job using their talents to play these pieces to the best of their abilities.”

Parents crowded around, witnessing their children performing and displaying their passion, which brought a sense of pride to the school and was a proud moment for the parents of these hardworking young adults.

Joe Romano ’25 stated, “Personally, I was most proud of the Jazz Band II’s rendition of Blue Oyster Cult’s (Don’t Fear) The Reaper. Learning that on the sax was one of the most fun songs I’ve ever played in the Jazz Band. We also did a compilation of songs from Phantom of the Opera, and everybody in the band loved playing the main theme for Phantom”.

Our school is extremely proud of the students and teachers for everything they have done to make the MAX Spring Concert an extremely enjoyable and memorable experience to watch, and it will be exciting to see what the music program has in store for next year's concert.
