Xaverian, a 6-12 private Catholic school within the network of the Xaverian Brothers Sponsored Schools (XBSS), located in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY, is seeking qualified, passionate, and creative teachers who are excited to work collaboratively with administration, faculty, and staff in carrying out the Catholic mission of the school in a 21st Century teaching and learning environment. The candidate will also meet the following criteria.
 
General Responsibilities and Qualifications 
  • Support the Catholic mission and philosophy of the Xaverian Brothers.
  • Respect all school policies while supporting the school’s spiritual and educational mission.
  • Motivate students in a positive and engaging classroom environment.
  • Exhibit competency and a solid knowledge base in the subject area.
  • Deliver dynamic, engaging, and challenging curriculum to middle and high school students.
  • Embrace innovation, creativity, and a repertoire of teaching styles.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the students’ diverse learning needs.
  • Design lessons and assessments that align with student learning profiles. 
  • Leverage the use of instructional technologies in a 1:1 tablet computing environment.
  • Perform assigned supervisory/prefecting duties. 
  • Possess strong writing and communication skills.
  • State certification, certification in General Special Education, and/or Students with Disabilities is a plus.

  • Campus Safety Officers

    Xaverian is seeking reliable and attentive individuals to support student safety during daily arrival and dismissal. As we prepare for a major campus expansion, we are strengthening our on-site safety presence in coordination with community partners.

    Position Overview
    Campus Safety Monitors will be stationed at key points surrounding the school campus to help ensure the safe and orderly flow of students, traffic, and pedestrians.
    Schedule
    • Monday–Friday (school days)
    • Morning: 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM
    • Afternoon: 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM
    Responsibilities
    • Promote safe student crossings and pedestrian awareness
    • Assist in minimizing congestion, double parking, and traffic disruptions
    • Maintain a visible, calm, and supportive presence around campus
    • Communicate respectfully with students, families, and community members
    Qualifications
    • Strong awareness, sound judgment, and reliability
    • Ability to remain attentive and engaged outdoors in varying weather
    • Friendly and professional demeanor
    • No prior experience required

  • English Teacher

    Specific to the academic subject, the candidate must:
    • Have earned at least an undergraduate degree in English or an acceptable equivalent.
    • Be familiar with the New York State Next Generation English Language Arts Learning Standards and be comfortable teaching middle and high school English courses with a focus on critical reading, analysis, and writing. 
  • Mathematics Teacher

    Specific to the academic subject, the candidate must:
    • Have earned at least an undergraduate degree in mathematics or an acceptable equivalent.
    • Be familiar with the New York State Next Generation Mathematics Learning Standards and be comfortable teaching courses in middle school pre-algebra and algebra, and in high school algebra, geometry, algebra II/trigonometry, pre-calculus, and calculus.
  • Physics Teacher

    Specific to the academic subject, the candidate must:
    • Have earned at least an undergraduate degree in physics or an acceptable equivalent.
    • Be familiar with the New York State Next Generation Science Standards and be comfortable teaching courses in physics, including the lab component, with the possibility of teaching Advanced Placement Physics I and II. 
  • Religion Teacher

    Specific to the academic subject, the candidate must:
    • Have earned at least an undergraduate degree in Catholic Theology or an acceptable equivalent.
    • Be comfortable teaching courses in middle school Catholic Scripture and Catholic Social Justice, and in high school Introduction to Catholicism, Catholic Scripture, and Catholic Morality and Social Justice.
  • Substitute Teachers

    Xaverian is seeking per diem substitute teachers to assist in the supervision of classes during the course of the school day from 8:15 am to 2:30 pm on select dates of the school year. 
    • A Bachelor's degree is required.
    • Prior teaching experience or work as a paraprofessional/teacher assistant is preferred.
    • Pay rate is per diem.
