The 2026 P.O. Christopher Hoban '80 Service to New York Award Recipient
Assistant Chief Michael Collins is a lifelong resident of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. He joined the New York City Police Department over 40 years ago and quickly rose up the ranks into leadership positions throughout NYC. In his 30-year career, his assignments included service in various communities in Brooklyn & Manhattan, and for over 9 years he served as the commanding officer of the NYPD Press Office. Mike grew up with Chris, and both were attending John Jay College of Criminal Justice at the time of Chris’ death. Mike has been active in OLPH Parish and in the Brooklyn Community for many years. Mike is married to retired Detective Maureen Collins and has 2 sons: Michael, who lives and works in London with his fiancée Daniella. His son James lives in Manhattan with his wife, Katrina, and their daughter, Maeve.
