Nick Walsh ‘12 is a graduate of Cornell University with a BS in Animal Sciences who went on to earn his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell’s College of Veterinary Medicine. He completed a small-animal internship at The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center in New York City and a three-year residency in Diagnostic Imaging at Cornell, achieving board certification in 2023. Now, he leads the Diagnostic Imaging department at BluePearl Specialty and Emergency Pet Hospital in Houston, Texas, and runs his teleradiology consulting business, Matrix Vet Imaging LLC.
Reflecting on Xaverian, Nick considers the strong sense of community one of his fondest memories. “The people under that roof cared about you as a person,” he recalls. From teachers like Mrs. Guido, who inspired his academic journey, to staff members who made every student feel seen, he remains grateful for the support he received during his time at 7100 Shore Road. Mrs. Guido’s human anatomy class, in particular, laid the foundation for his success in veterinary school. “I still use the information she taught us all these years later,” he said.
He also credits Xaverian for instilling ambition and openness to new experiences, such as learning to play the bagpipes and participating in cultural exchange programs. He urges current students to explore diverse interests, try new things, and embrace opportunities.
As an alum, Nick still values his connection with the Xaverian community, emphasizing the importance of philanthropy to support future generations. “I attribute a large number of my achievements to the foundation Xaverian helped to build. I want others to have the same opportunities,” he said.
