Spirit of America Youth Leadership Program at Valley Forge

John Schiano '25 & Jake Lanzaro '25
The Founding Forward program; especially the Spirit of America Conference, truly fostered the development of how future leaders should think. Over the four day conference, my fellow Clippers and I discussed new ideas and strategies and participated in conversations with fellow young leaders all throughout the East Coast.

I am a firm believer that participating in professional, civic activities will create a lasting impact on our world and our future generations who will lead it! It was a great opportunity and on behalf of myself and fellow Xaverian Students we are grateful that we were able to participate. Special thanks to Mr. Phil Lian ‘66 for making this all possible along with Mr. Sharib and Mrs. Postler, our Chaperones.

The Spirit of America, Youth Leadership retreat was a transformative four day program centered around what it means to be a young citizen. This experience teaches high schoolers not only how to be more responsible citizens but some moral values that can be implemented into our daily lives. By being in the heart of Valley Forge Pennsylvania it was easy to be immersed in the history of that very location. Through being able to converse with people representing founding fathers such as, Thomas Jefferson and James Wilson, it only added to the history element deeply rooted in the retreat. Whether it was trying to pass our own bills in congress or presenting our own business ideas in a shark tank like setting, these four days were truly influential and an overall great learning experience.
