Christy Fratto '20

Space Vehicle Engineer, Boeing/NASA
Christy Fratto ’20 is a graduate student at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), pursuing a Master’s in Aerospace Engineering. She earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Music in 2024. A student pilot, Christy has interned with Gannett Fleming, NAVAIR, and Boeing, contributing to projects ranging from fighter aircraft to NASA’s Artemis program. Her undergraduate research on cryogenic systems aboard the ISS resulted in a co-authored abstract for the American Society for Gravitational and Space Research. Christy now continues her work on NASA’s Space Launch System while completing her studies.

Outside of her technical pursuits, Christy has dedicated herself to humanitarian efforts. At Unity House in Troy, NY, she established a music therapy program for survivors of domestic violence. At Xaverian, she initiated a partnership with Asia Initiatives, mentoring girls in India and creating a lasting opportunity for Xaverian students to continue the work.

Reflecting on her Xaverian years, Christy cherishes the community, recalling her involvement in the orchestra, tennis, softball, and leading Kairos retreats. Teachers like Mr. Del George, Mr. Snyder, and Mr. Hernandez left lasting impressions, fostering her passions and resilience.

Christy attributes her perseverance, ethical work, and professional drive to Xaverian’s values. Networking through ACE (Architecture, Construction & Engineering) Mentorship Program and maintaining alumni connections have been pivotal in her career. “Staying engaged in the Xaverian community has given me lifelong friends and mentors,” she said. “Giving back ensures we can guide the next generation as others have guided us.”
