Season Outlook

After a long difficult layoff due to Covid 19, the Xaverian Clippers Varsity Ice Hockey Players are ready to get back to the business of winning!

Making it to the Finals in the last 4 seasons played and winning the “A” Division Championship in 2018-2019 was only the beginning of the excitement spreading through our program.

The team is looking forward to another long playoff run from new the leadership of the now Juniors and Seniors rising from the first JV team since 2007.

Anthony Esposito is a USA Level 4 Certified Coach. He has been Xaverian’s Varsity Ice Hockey head coach since 2007. Before that, he was the head coach of Xaverian’s JV Ice Hockey team from 2006-2007 and was the coach of the Greater New York Ice Hockey Organization from 1995-2006.

His professional degrees and positions include: Doctor of Podiatric Medicine; Board Certified Foot Surgery; Diplomate American Board of Podiatric Surgery; Fellow American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons; Past President, New York State Podiatric Medical Association, Kings Division; Attending Physician New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.

His hobbies include model railroading, fastpitch softball, and painting.

Coach Jeremy Mangano has been coaching high school sports at Xaverian since 2014. He has been the Varsity Lacrosse coach since 2018 and was Assistant Coach for 3 years prior. He has also been the Assistant Coach for the Varsity Hockey team since 2017. He has won 2 championships as an Assistant Coach, one on the field in 2015 and another on the ice in 2019. In addition to coaching, Coach Mangano played lacrosse for Xaverian and was first-team All-League in 2011 and 2012. Coach Mangano has a true passion for sports and prioritizes hard work and dedication. He believes those two qualities can take you all the way, on and off the field.

Angelo Pirozzi graduated from Xaverian in 1992 and went on to graduate from Clinton College in 1994 and SUNY Brockport in 1996. He played on the NYPD Hockey Team from 1997-2011. Pirozzi coached Xaverian’s JV Hockey team from 2006-2007 and Xaverian’s Varsity team from 2007-2011 and is now back again coaching for Xaverian.
