Coaches

Coach Daly began as head coach for Xaverian's Freshmen and Junior Varsity Baseball teams in 1997. Over that time, his teams have reached the City Finals fifteen seasons, coming away with the Championship Trophy in nine of those contests. Coach Daly has also earned the CHSAA Umpires Sportsmanship Award in ten of those seasons

Outside the baseball lines, Coach Daly had a two-year stint as Assistant Freshman Basketball Coach and two years as Head Coach of the Varsity-Club Basketball team, while assuming the duties as an Assistant Athletic Director for the past seven years.

In 2020, Coach Daly was chosen as the Theodore Ryken Person of the Year, a prestigious honor at Xaverian.

Fred Hassel started playing baseball at Joe Torre East Highway Little League in the early 80’s.  Through his sandlot days of baseball, he played for many organizations including St. Thomas Aquinas, Bergen Beach, Amity, and Our Lady of Grace. He attended Xaverian where he played baseball for three years and basketball for four years. He went on to attend SUNY New Paltz and played baseball for four years while there. 

Hassel was the manager/coach at Staten Island Little League from 2008-2020, has been on the Board of Directors at Staten Island Little League since 2011, was President of Staten Island Little League from 2017-2019, and managed the Cadets BBC from 2014-2018. Hassel is an Assistant Dean at Xaverian. He coached the Freshman Baseball team from 2019-2021 and is currently an Assistant JV Baseball Coach.
