Season Outlook

It is so good to be back! The cheerleaders kicked off the 2021-2022 season in full force with a UCA home camp in August to prepare for their busy Fall! When asked by the UCA staff what the team was most excited about for the coming year, the number one response was football games and of course, stunting! Throughout the first few months of the year, the cheerleaders are brushing up on old and new cheers, halftime, and other special performances to cheer on their favorite football players. Football games are where we show off what we know and give glimpses on what we’re working on for our own competition season. This year we have plans to participate in three regional competitions and undoubtedly qualify for States! At the last States Competition, the Varsity team took home second place- this year we’re after first!

In addition to cheering on Football and Basketball, along with preparing for our own competitions, the cheerleaders have once again begun spreading awareness and raising money for some really important causes. You may have even contributed to a bake sale, or two, or all of them! For the last six years, Xaverian has been named a Top School for the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides for Breast Cancer. The cheerleaders have even participated in the infamous Pink Walks all over the tri-state area including MetLife Arena! 

The growing Cheer Program is always looking to increase its involvement in the school and its community. In just the first few months, we have participated in the Police Officer Christopher Hoban Run, and thanks to Mr. Loposky, Xaverian’s Director of Music, we were able to cheer on the runners this year at the annual Tunnel to Towers run in NYC. Maybe next year you’ll catch us running it!

Each year brings its own challenges and excitement and this year is no different. Whether on the performance surface or off, the cheerleaders will strive for nothing less than excellence in cheering on each other, their school, and their community!
